"Hall of Heroes Theme" ( from the Icewind Dale soundtrack 1.21MB)

These are the members of the High Council of Helmgardt, as well as the ones who founded our great village...May their lives be long and prosperous.

Lord Myzrael d'Averam

Our settlement leader, Lord Myzrael is an old and wise elf from times long past. He saved Icewind Dale and perhaps all of Faerun from an infernal demon banished to our world. He is thought by many to be a prophet of the Seldarine Council.

Labelas Enoreth himself is said to have appeared to him long ago, and given him the information necessary to free the Severed Hand from its shade-curse. Once the curse was lifted by d'Averam, the body of Larrel was restored to what it once was, and Larrel has been d'Averam's mentor ever since. He has liberated a great deal of magickal treasures on his travels, and Helmgardt is often set upon by raiders because of the rumoured wealth of this Seldarine prophet. He never seems to age, and has accomplished the impossible many times. His half-brother Erevain Blacksheaf, thought long dead, just appeared in the keep one day and became d'Averam's seneschal. Since Helmgardt's founding, d'Averam has seen fit to bestow the people of the village with kindness and prosperity, and they could not be more loyal to him. Under his benevolent rule, Helmgardt is destined for bigger and better things indeed.

Chancellor Erevain Blacksheaf

After coming to Icewind Dale long ago, Erevain became ill after being struck by a poisoned knife. He recovered slowly, and set out to find his half-brother Myzrael d'Averam. It is said he managed to get all the way to Dragon's Eye in search of his brother. His search ended there, for he was killed by a swarm of sword spiders. Now he rules beside his brother as Chancellor of Helmgardt. How he returned to life, is unknown.

General Celeste de Thatre'

Also a veteran member of our civilization, Lady Celeste commands all of the forces of Helmgardt. Her troops are all instilled with the highest of honour simply because they are under her command. She is ruthless in battle, and a brilliant strategist. She was taught the fighting styles of the Bladesingers by Vithar Ashgan, a former travelling companion of Asgus Bloodforge, Lord d'Averam, and herself. Her past is known only to those she loves, and it is said amongst the commoners of the village that she is Lord d'Averam's lover. She, like Lord Myzrael d'Averam is a fabled "Bladesinger", proficient in the ways of melee combat, as well as in magics. With her cunning in battle, few can best her army be it large or be it small. She also has a softer, sweeter side that few have witnessed. It is said that she accompanied d'Averam on his crusade through the treacherous "Icewind Dale". She also wears a strange locket that has some connection to her father who is thought to have lived in Easthaven at one time. It contains a picture of a man clad in robes of Tempus with the words "Father's Sacrifice" etched on the rim.

Archmage Larrel of the Severed Hand

Little is known of this nearly omnipotent elven archmage that isnt published in history texts. Thought to be centuries dead, Larrel and Lord Myzrael often speak to an invisible being of things transpired. Most believe this being to be Labelas Enoreth, the patron god of Larrel, who once cursed and damned Larrel for his actions on the final days of the Hand. Lord d'Averam has said to many that Larrel's restoration doesn't truly MEAN anything. However, all that have seen him about think his coming to be some sort of apocalyptic omen from the elven gods. Larrel will rarely act in defense of the city, unless of course it threatens the lives of d'Averam, Celeste, Asgus, or Erevain; whom he thinks of as surrogate children. When he was restored, his youth was brought about him as well, making him appear as old as d'Averam. (much more information to be added in extended origins section)
